About us
Plants peoplecome back for.
Ellis’ is a family greenhouse and nursery in Hudson, and a forest management business working the woodlots around it. Both halves are run by the same people, out of the same place on Old Town Road.
The greenhouse fills through spring with flowers, hanging baskets, planters and vegetable starts. Customers tell us the plants are healthy and the prices are fair, and that is the part we would rather be known for than anything we could write about ourselves.
Ellis Forestry Service works with Maine landowners on the measurements, maps and harvest decisions that keep a woodlot working over time. The forestry story continues on the Forest Management page.

The greenhouse opens mid-April and runs through mid-June. Annuals, patio planters, hanging baskets, herbs and vegetable seedlings, with someone on hand who can tell you what will actually do well in your soil.

- What it is for
- The award recognizes New England SAF members who have shown exceptional achievement as practicing forest managers. Austin Cary (1865–1936) introduced northern landowners to forest sampling, growth estimation and simple silvicultural techniques, and his 1909 Woodsman's Manual was still in use as a textbook into the 1960s.
